Psalm 78:16-18

¹⁶He brought streams out of the rock
and caused water to flow down like rivers [Ex. 17:6; Num. 20:8; 1 Cor. 10:4].

¹⁷But the people continued to sin against him;
in the ·desert [wasteland; wilderness] they ·turned [rebelled] against God Most High.
¹⁸They ·decided to test God [^Ltested God in their hearts]
by asking for the food ·they wanted [^Lfor their appetite].
